Editorial : Presentation of the results and achievement of the Maremed project
After three years of intense
collaboration, the "MAREMED (MED programme) project " which aimed to
strengthen the coordination of regional maritime policies between themselves and
also with those in force at National, European and Mediterranean levels - ended
in June 2013.
The project worked on those constituents of
maritime policy with a strong transnational dimension, namely Integrated Coastal Zone Management,
pollution, adaptation to climate change in coastal
areas, fisheries and coastal and maritime data management.
Under the coordination of the project
leader, Provence-Alpes-Côte d’Azur Region, twelve regional partners from
France, Italy, Spain, Greece and Cyprus together with the Conference of Peripheral
Maritime Regions (CPMR) and its Intermediterranean Commission carried out an overview of the policies implemented and
their governance.
The partners are pleased to present the
political results and recommendations as well as the technical reports and
contributions of three years of the project aiming to promote the integrated
maritime management and the sustainable development of coastal zones for the
different levels of coastal governance.
