Editorial : Presentation of the results and achievement of the Maremed project

After three years of intense collaboration, the "MAREMED (MED programme) project " which aimed to strengthen the coordination of regional maritime policies between themselves and also with those in force at National, European and Mediterranean levels - ended in June 2013.

The project worked on those constituents of maritime policy with a strong transnational dimension, namely Integrated Coastal Zone Management, pollution, adaptation to climate change in coastal areas, fisheries and coastal and maritime data management.

Under the coordination of the project leader, Provence-Alpes-Côte d’Azur Region, twelve regional partners from France, Italy, Spain, Greece and Cyprus together with the Conference of Peripheral Maritime Regions (CPMR) and its Intermediterranean Commission carried out an overview of the policies implemented and their governance.

The partners are pleased to present the political results and recommendations as well as the technical reports and contributions of three years of the project aiming to promote the integrated maritime management and the sustainable development of coastal zones for the different levels of coastal governance.
